About the Program

This program is a guided exploration of how media works, from gathering information to publishing, broadcasting, and reaching the public.

Children will visit media spaces such as a newspaper office, radio station (All India Radio, if possible), and, subject to permissions, a television studio. The aim is to help them understand how news and information are created, verified, recorded, and shared.

What will children explore?

Through guided observation and conversation, participants will explore:

  • How news stories are identified and developed

  • The difference between reporting, editing, and publishing

  • How newspapers are designed and printed

  • How radio programs are recorded and broadcast

  • The role of sound, voice, and silence in communication

  • The responsibilities and ethics involved in media and journalism

Children will also get a chance to:

  • Ask questions directly to media professionals

  • Observe workspaces and tools used in media

  • Reflect on how the media shapes public understanding and opinion

  • Careers in Media and lifelong learning
